Aeration for industrial effluent

Industrial effluent basins use floating aerators to supply oxygen for biological treatment, keep solids in suspension, cool hot effluent and strip dissolved gases such as hydrogen sulfide and methane. The units install without draining the basin or stopping the process.

What can surface aeration do for industrial effluent?

  • Supply oxygen for biological treatment
  • Mix the basin so solids do not settle
  • Cool hot effluent through spray contact with the air
  • Strip dissolved gases such as hydrogen sulfide and methane

Which aerator type suits industrial basins?

High speed floating aerators suit basins with a changing level. Directional aerator mixers suit buffer tanks and channels where spray must be kept low. Low speed surface aerators suit deep tanks that need a lot of mixing per kW.

Frequently asked questions

Can a surface aerator cool effluent?

Yes. Throwing water into the air in a spray releases heat, so high speed surface aerators are also used to cool hot effluent.
